We are scared. We face adversity. We will become stronger, together.

Scared. Sad. Defeated. This is a lot of what I hear and see today. From friends to strangers while eating lunch or at coffee shops. Hearing the anger, sadness, and general defeat in their voices makes me emotional. In 34 years, I’ve never seen an America like this.

How can we not be scared though? About racism and sexism that exists in large numbers really brought to the forefront in this election process. Our beautiful and progressive country, torn through this election by hate.

I’m worried for minorities, females, and immigrants being persecuted. Not allowing them to be able to pursue the American dream, as our parents or grandparents did. To leave the hate and racism for the hope of a better land.

But, I am hopeful because with this adversity, there will be growth.

I know it’s hard. But, we have to stand with each other, voice our opinions to each other and the world, and take part in making change happen. We have to be there for each other. Believe in each other. Stay strong for each other. And, keep our faith in God for each other.

Knowing that we will come out a better, stronger, and more connected America.

We will face much adversity over the next four years, this is very obvious. It will only get worse before it gets better.

My hope is the adversity will bring us together to become a country and nation that is not racist, is not sexist, and is note fueled by hatred.

The country that gave my immigrant parents an opportunity 50+ years ago. The country that allowed them to find jobs and raise a family in the middle class. The country that allowed me to break through and become the man today.

This is the country I believe in.

This country has been here before, where hate has set us back. But, throughout history, we have come together stronger and more accepting of each other. I pray we can do that this time.

I know it’s hard, but there is light at the end of this very dark tunnel.

I believe in my country. I believe in the people of my country. I believe in the process of my country. And, I am hopeful, my country, will find a way to work together to make us stronger as a nation with one voice.

We can not rest. We have to make sure our voices are heard. We have to listen to others. And, we have to put in the work.

Believe. Stay Hopeful. Be Loud. Keep Moving Forward.
